In this bi-annual report on inequality in central government transfers to local authorities the figures are for 2012, the most recent year for which the Ministry of the Interior and the Central Bureau of Statistics published complete data. We also examined the figures for the years between 1991 and 2012. Inequality was measured per capita.
This annual update of the Social Report appears at the height of the Israeli election season, held early because of government fears that it would not be able to mobilize a majority to pass a budget bill that called for harsh cuts in the social services.
Forty-five years into Israel’s domination of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, the Adva Center published its bi-annual report on the burden of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, written by Dr. Shlomo Swirski. The report examines the economic, social, political and diplomatic burden of the conflict for Israel.
The report shows that in 2010 there was a small increase in the income of most Israeli households, bringing their income back to its 2008 level. It also reveals that at the same time, inequality continued to grow. The report features developments over the past year as well as over the past decade.
